FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is it so difficult to break a habit?
Habits are controlled by the subconscious mind. A subconscious craving is much stronger than conscious willpower. When there is a battle between the conscious and subconscious mind, the habit is the one that wins out. Think how you may times you’ve said you wouldn’t smoke or eat a certain food, or bite your nails and you did it anyways.
How does hypnosis work?
Your brain is programmed with bad habits, fears and limitations. Hypnosis clears your subconscious of self-defeating thoughts and unwanted habits and reprograms it with the right attitude and positive habits that enable you to successfully accomplish your goals.
Can everybody be hypnotized?
Dr. Bob and Kim are able to hypnotize 95% of the people who come to their clinic. They have even hypnotized people who weren’t able to get hypnotized at a stage show.
There’s no need to worry about whether you can be hypnotized. If for any reason they can’t hypnotize you, you won’t be charged for the session.
How many sessions does it take to see results?
It depends on the concern. It’s possible to stop smoking with just one hypnosis session. Phobias and compulsive disorders such as nail biting or hair pulling can be eliminated within 2-4 hypnosis treatments. Weight loss and anger control usually take 4-8 sessions.
What are the key differences between a psychologist or a counselor (who doesn’t use hypnosis) and a hypnotherapist?
A psychologist/counselor believes all behaviour is a byproduct of conscious choices and decisions. He teaches you how to restructure your conscious thoughts and behavior and set achievable goals. Psychological treatment commonly takes several months before you see results.
A hypnotherapist believes subconscious habits, blocks and limitations are the cause of success and failure. Hypnotherapy can help you eliminate self-defeating habits and destructive unconscious blocks that are holding you back from accomplishing your goals.
Hypnotherapy is a short term therapy because it usually gets results fast. Smoking cessation frequently occurs after only 1 session and many other habits can be eliminated within 2-4 hypnosis sessions.
Is there any danger in being hypnotized?
It’s completely safe. You always aware of what’s happening and are free to accept or reject any hypnotic suggestions. Although movies often portray the hypnotized person as being controlled by the hypnotist, in reality, the hypnotist is only a guide. She cannot make you do anything you are unwilling to do.
Are there any conditions which may not respond to hypnotherapy?
If you are bi-polar, manic depressive, have severe anxiety, panic attacks or epileptic seizures, do not start hypnosis treatment unless your doctor gives you permission.
What are the advantages to being hypnotized?
The first advantage is that it works quickly. Many people stop smoking with just one session.
Secondly, it’s much easier to control cravings be it alcohol, smoking, or drugs.
Thirdly, it can discover and eliminate hidden blocks that keep you stuck in your old patterns.
